King Corn: My Review

Bookmark and Share

Besides the fact that King Corn was 90-minutes long with no commercials aaaand I had just downed 20 ounces of tea...I enjoyed the show. And, because it was so well done, it made me want to grab my 1990s video camera and a notepad and start my own documentary, but that's beside the point.

So corn. You may not think that watching corn grow is interesting, but I was on the edge of my seat the whole program.

[Well, actually I was reclined a bit, clutching my arms round me as I have a tendency to keep the thermostat a wee bit too low.]

You know, I grew up on a farm, a corn-growing farm, yet never put it all together how the whole agricultural system works. Or how the acres and acres of corn we were growing wasn't actually "food," but something that would be processed and made into ethanol, high fructose corn syrup, and animal feed.

Hmmmm, very enlightening.

Well, I could drone on about all the interesting facts, but I'll let you just watch the show instead.

Meanwhile, I plan to chuck the corn sweeteners from my house. Wish me luck.

Thank you, Lisa, for opening my eyes a little wider to the world of hidden culprits that sabotage my diet. I watch for the blatant sugar, but I haven't been watching for the sneaky ones. =)

Crack me Up! Johnny and I were just about to go to bed and we stumbled upon the little documentary about corn. He said, "Now why did you have to go find something I'm interested in just before bed?" We watched the whole thing. Johnny has been talking about it for days:)
Yes, we lead a very exciting life!
