Snarky Saturday: Tic Tac Toe Stuff
I wake up every Saturday in an even snarkier mood than usual. I decided to slough some of that off on you. Because I am like that, you know.
So as I zipped through the local Stuff Mart recently, my six-year-old picked up a product and excitedly yelled, "Look, Mom! A Tic Tac Toe Game Pad!"
And then the poor child had to listen to his Mama ramble on and on about how totally wasteful that product is, how someone actually thought making the product was a good idea, and how that company went on to chop down some trees and turn them into paper and print the tic tac toe board on the pages and bind the sheets into a little pad and wrap the pad in cellophane and ship the pads across the continent and price them and shelve them and then TO THINK THAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY BUY THEM is just shocking to me.
As if we don't have, say, Scrap Paper already lying around our house, and that making two vertical lines followed by two horizontal lines on a piece of paper is Just Too Much Work!!!
Oh, the irony.
And in my spare time, I pulled some other favorites off of Amazon, what I like to call: "I Can't Believe Someone Thought This Was A Good Idea" kind of products. Enjoy.

I used to think the same thing about the game, Battle Ship. You know, the game with the big plastic peg board and the ships that fit into the holes and each person takes turns guessing locations (A-3, B-12, etc.) until one or the other gets the others' battleship.
The thing is, my brother and I used to play that on long car trips with nothing more than scrap paper and pencils. It's just a grid with X's where the ships are. That's it.
And you know, Wheel of Fortune is just Hang Man. And for crying out loud, someone has boxed Charades!
I'm glad someone else sees the idiocy of these marketing schemes. How do so many people allow themselves to be taken in???
