Who's Minding the Door?

Bookmark and Share

Usually my children run and hide from mankind. So why does the sound of the doorbell have them stampeding to the front of the house to let strangers right in?

Manners 101 was in order. The Mister and I stood on one side of a door while the Rambunctious Wonders stayed on the other. (Now that's a good idea right from the start!) From there, the Mister pretended to be everything from Grandma to a serial killer offering cookies. (Sometimes those two are one and the same.) This little teaching game turned into a bucketful of guffaws, thanks to the acting abilities of the Mister.

But, the kids got the point. A week or so later, the doorbell rang and soon came the mad rush to the door. My oldest took one look at the unfamiliar couple and shouted: "THERE'S SOME STRANGE PEOPLE AT THE DOOR!!!"

And then *I* wanted to hide from mankind. Let's hear it for Teaching Your Children Good Manners.
