Awake to Nature
I slept in a tent this weekend. "Slept" being a euphemism for "laid awake listening to semis".
But at night I did see the stars. I did feel the warmth from the fire. I did hear the wind rustle the leaves. And I marveled that these natural things brought me far more enjoyment than boxed-up trinkets or plugged-in gadgets. Why? I think it's their timelessness, their quiet presence. And that connects me to the Creator in a way no widget ever can.
In Rob Bell's God is Green series, he says: "God's primary posture to the physical world is not production, but pleasure...not consumption, but celebration."
I urge you, don't fall asleep to God's greatness. It's all around you!
